India's Car Exports See Remarkable 32.42% Increase In June 2024
In June 2024, car exports from India surged by 32.42% compared to the same month in the previous year, reaching a total of 76,297 units. The Volkswagen Virtus emerged as the top exported car during this period, with 6,349 units shipped, marking a remarkable year-on-year growth of 191.10%. This significant increase highlights the growing demand for Indian-manufactured vehicles in the global market.
Significant Growth in Car Exports
Several other cars also experienced notable growth in exports. The Nissan Sunny saw year-on-year growth of 110.36%, while the Maruti Fronx recorded an impressive 826.98% increase.

Maruti Suzuki had multiple models on the list, including the Baleno, DZire, and Jimny, all showing positive export growth. These figures underscore the strong performance of Indian car manufacturers in international markets.
Hyundai, Honda, and Tata Motors were among the leading exporters from India. Their contributions further bolstered the overall export numbers for June 2024. The demand for SUVs and smaller passenger vehicles has been particularly high, driving this upward trend in exports.

Decline in Certain Models
Despite the overall positive trend, some models experienced a decline in exports. The Verna saw a year-on-year decrease of 3.87%. Other models such as the Honda City, Kiger, Seltos, and Swift also had lower export numbers compared to the previous year. Smaller passenger vehicles like the Renault Kwid showed substantial growth with a 307.32% year-on-year increase in exports. Conversely, the Hyundai i20 experienced a significant decline of 51.82%. These contrasting trends highlight shifting preferences among global consumers.
