Hyundai Motor Group Unveils '10M March' Video Featuring Robotics Technology For Soldier Rehabilitation
Hyundai Motor Group has introduced its 'X-ble MEX' rehabilitation robot, designed to assist injured soldiers in their recovery. This initiative is highlighted in the '10M March' campaign video, which showcases how the robot aids muscle recovery and joint movement. The video features narration by Paralympic medalist Ji-hoon Lee and includes supportive messages from social media.
The '10M March' campaign draws parallels between the daily rehabilitation routines of injured soldiers and a long march through hospital corridors. The video, created with the Korean Armed Forces Medical Command, shows the use of 'X-ble MEX' at the Armed Forces Capital Hospital. It also shares thousands of encouraging messages from the public to support these soldiers.
The 'X-ble MEX', developed by Hyundai's Robotics LAB, is a wearable exoskeleton that reduces physical strain on medical staff while making rehabilitation safer and more manageable. Donated to the Armed Forces Capital Hospital last August, this advanced robot supports complex movements beyond basic walking assistance.
The name 'X-ble MEX' combines Hyundai's wearable robot brand 'X-ble' with Medical Exoskeleton. The term ‘X’ represents limitless potential in robotics technology, while ‘able’ signifies achieving possibilities. This device aids lower muscle reconstruction and supports various actions like sitting, standing, walking, rotating, and climbing stairs.
Through real-time actuator control systems, 'X-ble MEX' helps patients move independently by providing necessary strength for balance during walking. This feature significantly enhances treatment efficiency and motivates patients throughout their rehabilitation journey. Additionally, it reduces injury risks by preventing backward falls.
The video’s narration is provided by Ji-hoon Lee, who won a bronze medal in ice hockey at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics after recovering from an injury sustained during military service. Over a thousand supportive comments from Hyundai's social media channels form the basis of these messages.
Commitment to Social Responsibility
Under its social responsibility message ‘The Right Move for the Right Future’, Hyundai Motor Group engages in various activities focusing on mobility, safety, and environmental sustainability for future generations. Last August saw another donation of their second-generation 'X-ble MEX' to enhance rehabilitation treatments at the hospital.
The Group aims to continue leveraging advanced mobility technology across different support activities. Their goal is to empower those with limited mobility to move freely in future scenarios. By doing so, they strive towards creating an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy enhanced mobility opportunities.
