Hyundai and Kia are preparing for the SDV era by developing a next-generation infotainment system. They are working with 42dot to create an open mobility ecosystem that focuses on user experience. This system is expected to debut in 2026.

The new infotainment system will connect seamlessly with Samsung's 'SmartThings' platform. This integration will enhance connectivity between vehicles and smartphones, enriching customer experiences beyond just transportation.

The partnership will introduce a vehicle location verification service through 'SmartThings Find.' This service uses a network of Samsung Galaxy devices to track vehicle locations globally, even without cellular coverage.

Customers can access this feature via the Connected Car Service app, useful in situations like misplaced parking or theft. Even those not registered with the service can use the Samsung SmartThings app for location tracking.

User-Centered Mobility Experiences

Hyundai and Kia aim to offer services tailored to customers' lifestyles, such as healthcare and pet care. They plan to simplify new member registration by linking user accounts with Samsung Electronics.

Future plans include continuously introducing new services that make daily experiences more user-centered. They will share vehicle data APIs and SDKs with partners like Samsung to develop convenient mobility solutions.

Developer Engagement Initiatives

A '2025 Developer Conference' is planned for next year’s first half. Hyundai and Kia will announce an SDK for external developers to create innovative apps for SDVs, fostering a vibrant vehicle app market.

This initiative aims to engage developers directly in creating 'killer apps' that enhance the SDV ecosystem, offering diverse applications for users worldwide.

The collaboration between Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Samsung Electronics represents a significant step towards integrating vehicles with digital ecosystems. By focusing on user-centered services and advanced connectivity features, they aim to redefine mobility experiences globally.
