Hyundai Achieves Milestone with Over 50,000 Cars Sold in June, Ioniq 5 Faces Decline
As July begins, car manufacturers are unveiling their sales figures. Hyundai has reported selling over 50,000 cars in June. However, one specific model has seen notably lower sales. Here’s an in-depth look at the details.
Hyundai's total sales for June reached 50,103 units. This achievement of surpassing 50,000 cars indicates a strong performance. The company's SUV models, particularly the Creta, Venue, and Exter, have been top sellers.
Conversely, the sales of Hyundai's electric vehicles have been declining. The company has already temporarily halted the production of its Kona electric car. There is speculation that Hyundai might introduce an electric version of its Creta model as a replacement.
In June, Hyundai sold only 30 units of its Ioniq 5 electric car. Despite high expectations for this model, it recorded the lowest sales among Hyundai's lineup.
In June, Hyundai sold 16,293 Creta cars, 9890 Venue cars, and 6908 Exter cars. Other models included 5315 i20 cars, 4948 Grand i10 Nios cars, and 4299 Aura cars. Additionally, they sold 882 Alcazar cars and 114 Tucson cars. The Ioniq 5 was at the bottom with just 30 units sold.

Over the past six months, the Ioniq 5's sales have been fluctuating. In January, 95 units were sold; February saw 66 units; March had 65 units; April recorded 45 units; and May had 42 units. June marked the lowest with only 30 units sold.
Specifications of Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 measures 4634 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and stands at a height of 1225 mm. It features a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The interiors are crafted from eco-friendly materials, which is a notable aspect of this vehicle.
This car is powered by a 72.6 kilowatt-hour battery pack, enabling it to travel up to 631 kilometers on a single charge. The electric motor generates 217 hp and 350 Nm torque. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes only 18 minutes.

Price Impact on Sales
The high price tag of ₹46 lakhs is considered a significant factor in the low sales of the Ioniq 5. As a luxury car, it caters to a niche market with fewer buyers in this segment.

In total, Hyundai sold 343 units of the Ioniq 5 over the past six months. Despite being among the top-selling brands in India, this model remains the least popular in Hyundai’s range.
The Ioniq 5's eco-friendly materials and impressive range are commendable features. However, its high price point limits its appeal to a broader audience.
