2025 Bill Neale Automotive Fine Art Award Invites High School Students To Submit Entries

The 2025 Bill Neale Automotive Fine Art Award for High School Students is now open for submissions. This award, in its second year, honours the late Bill Neale, a renowned automotive artist who passed away in 2021. The competition aims to inspire high school students in grades 9-12 across the U.S., including those attending schools abroad due to military service.

Submissions are accepted from October 1, 2024, until February 12, 2025, at 11:59 pm CST. The award encourages students to explore traditional fine art mediums that Neale excelled in. This year's theme focuses on two elements: Negative Space and People depicted with a race car. Students must incorporate a race car and one or both of these themes into their artwork.

The award also supports arts education by benefiting the Texas Cultural Trust Art Box project. This initiative provides essential art supplies to underserved Title I elementary school students in Texas. By doing so, it aims to make art accessible to all young people and foster creativity among them.

Leslie Neale, Bill Neale’s daughter and part of the Terlingua Racing Team, expressed gratitude for this initiative. "Without art supplies you can’t do as our dad always said, ‘Just keep drawing,’" she stated. "These art boxes give young ones the opportunity to do just that to become our future’s artists."

The award is made possible through the support of several sponsors: The Carroll Shelby Foundation, Mecum Auctions, Terlingua Racing Team, and the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). These organisations play a crucial role in recognising excellence in automotive fine art among high school students.

Jenny Parry, Director of Programs for TXCT, acknowledged the importance of this support. "Thank you to the Bill Neale Automotive Fine Art Award for High School Students for their generous sponsorship of the Texas Cultural Trust’s Art Box program," she said. "Your support empowers young artists and helps to inspire self-expression and imagination of children who have little to no access to creative resources."
