Alpine A110 Pikes Peak Achieves Top-4 Finish At Goodwood Festival Of Speed
The Alpine A110 Pikes Peak secured 4th place in the Goodwood Festival of Speed Timed Shootout, completing the hillclimb in 48.61 seconds. Raphaël Astier, who also drove it to third place overall at Pikes Peak in 2023, piloted the radical 500 bhp A110 up the 1.16-mile hill.
Astier's performance at Goodwood was a highlight for Alpine, demonstrating the car's capabilities. The A110 Pikes Peak, weighing just 950 kg, outpaced more powerful rivals during Saturday’s qualifying, securing a spot in the top 30 fastest entrants for Super Sunday.
Alpine showcased its rich motorsport heritage at Goodwood. The display included the 1975 A110 Group 4 Tour de Corse rally car, the RS10 F1 car from the 1970s, and the V6-powered A442 endurance racer. These historic vehicles highlighted Alpine's long-standing commitment to racing excellence.
The brand also presented its current and future motorsport focus through the Alpenglow concept and the BWT Alpine F1 Team showcar. The Alpenglow concept features a lightweight carbon body and envisions high-performance hydrogen-powered motoring.
The UK dynamic debut of the A290, Alpine’s fully electric urban sports car, was another major attraction. Fresh from its world premiere at Le Mans, this striking 220 bhp 'hot hatch' impressed visitors as part of the 'First Glance' feature.
Visitors to Alpine's stand had an exclusive preview of the forthcoming Atelier Alpine personalisation programme. This initiative aims to make the acclaimed A110 even more unique by offering bespoke customisation options.
Festival Highlights
A number of A110 variants participated in the manufacturer parade, including models like the A110 S, A110 GT, A110 R, and A110 Enstone. These cars represented Alpine's roadgoing success and added to the brand’s impressive presence at Goodwood.
Nic Burnside, MD of Alpine Cars UK, remarked on the event: "To see and hear the A110 Pikes Peak storm to such a strong finish was a fitting climax to an exhilarating four days for Alpine. During the Festival of Speed we were able to give thousands of visitors an incredible insight into our past, present and future."
Founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, Alpine has distinguished itself with French-style sports cars. In 2018, it introduced a new version of its iconic model with principles of compactness and agility.
