Isuzu To Introduce BS-VI Models In India By Early 2020: Prices To Increase By Up To Rs 4 Lakh
Isuzu Motors India has announced that they will introduce BS-VI compliant models in the Indian market by early next year. The company also stated that they will discontinue production of BS-IV models by December 2019.
According to the brand, BS6 compliant Isuzu models will be launched in India in the first couple of months in 2020. The upgrade to the new emission norms will see the Isuzu models receive a price hike in the Indian market.
Isuzu currently sells the D-Max Regular cab, D-Max S-Cab, MU-X and the range-topping V-Cross D-Max SUVs in the Indian market. The company stated that depending on the models, the prices will increase between Rs 1 lakh and go up to Rs 4 lakh for the range-topping variants.
Capt. Shankar Srinivas, Isuzu Motors India spokesperson stated:
"There is an air of uncertainty prevailing amongst vehicle buyers in the country. As per the government announcement, BS4 vehicles purchased on or before March 31, 2020, will continue to run even after implementation of BS6 norms coming in force from April 2020."
"Isuzu would like to notify its new and existing customers about the price hike next year and urge its customers to make appropriate vehicle purchase decisions whilst availing scheme benefits that come with the range of Isuzu utility vehicles."
The reason for the price hike will mainly be the upgradation of the engine and other mechanical components to BS-VI compliance. Diesel engines will receive a higher price hike compared to the petrol counterparts.
Currently, the Isuzu V-Cross D-Max is the range-topping model in the brand's Indian product lineup. The Isuzu V-Cross D-Max will receive the most hike in prices by around Rs 3.5 - 4 lakh. The SUV currently comes with a price tag starting at Rs 16.54 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Isuzu V-Cross D-Max is offered with two diesel engine options. This includes 1.9-litre unit producing 150bhp at 3600rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1800rpm. The SUV also comes with a bigger 2.5-litre diesel engine churning out 134bhp at 3600rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1800rpm.
The 1.9-litre engine is offered with a six-speed manual while the 2.5-litre unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Both engines, however, send power to all-four-wheels.
Thoughts On The Isuzu BS-VI Update & Price Hike
A price hike is bound to happen when a car is being updated to comply with the new stringent emission norms. If you are looking to purchase an Isuzu vehicle, now seems to be the best time to do so.
