Honda Reveals BR-V Facelift At Indonesia International Auto Show —Expect India Debut Soon
Honda cars has unveiled the BR-V facelift at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show. The current-gen Honda BR-V was launched in 2015 and since then there have been no updates to the model.
Now though, by revealing the facelift at the Indonesia International Auto Show, Honda will be looking to boost sales of the BR-V. The Honda BR-V facelift gets a few aesthetic changes. The overall design has been kept in-line with Honda's current design philosophy.
Up front is an all-new bumper with a brushed-aluminium faux skid plate. It involves new housings for the fog lamps and quite a lot of chrome. The entire front fascia makes sure the new BR-V looks typical of all Hondas and has that Honda family face.
However, the over-involvement of chrome does stick out like a sore thumb. This however could be specific to the Indonesian market and it be a whole new story when the facelift is launched in India.
The MPV now comes with daytime running lights and redesigned headlamp inserts. The side profile of the Honda BR-V facelift almost remains the same as the current model. There are a few changes made to the cladding at the sides - addition of chrome strips. Apart from this, the alloy wheels are brand-new diamond-cut units.
The cladding continues over the wheel arches until the rear end where it ends in a new bumper with a faux skid plate. The tail-lamp remains the same as on the current model. The insides of the Honda BR-V remain almost the same when it comes to design, but it now comes with a grey tone and only the top-spec variants get contrast stitching in red for the seats and centre armrest.
In the Indonesian market, the Honda BR-V is available with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine only. There is no option for a diesel engine. However, for the Indian market, we get a 1.5-litre diesel engine too.
The petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 119bhp and a peak torque output of 145bhp. The diesel engine on the other hand produces 100bhp and 200Nm. While the diesel is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission, the petrol engine is made available with a CVT automatic gearbox as well.
Thoughts On Honda BR-V Facelift Revealed In Indonesia
The Honda BR-V facelift has been a long-time coming. The MPV has survived for almost 4 years without an update of any sort, hence this is a much deserved update. Sales in this segment are dismal, however, there may be a rise once the facelift is launched. Honda hasn't confirmed if the BR-V facelift will make it to Indian shores, but it will invariably have to be launched here as well.
