Israeli Nanotech Firm Unveils Battery That Can Fully Charge In Five Minutes
An Israeli firm called StoreDot has unveiled the FlashBattery, that can fully charge in five minutes.
An Israeli nanotech firm called StoreDot has unveiled a battery that can be fully charged in five minutes and can power the car for a range of 300 miles (482km).
The FlashBattery, as the company calls, it was unveiled at the CUBE Tech Fair in Berlin.

StoreDot says the new battery is a ‘radical improvement over the traditional lithium-ion battery structure.' The FlashBattery uses organic compounds with nanomaterials to cut down on charging time.

According to the company, cars running on StoreDot's modules would be equipped with forty ‘pouches' - each containing the FlashBattery technology. These pouches contain short chains of amino acids, called peptides, arranged in a layered structure.

According to StoreDot, the technology avoids the limitations of a conventional graphite-based lithium ion battery cell. The materials in the FlashBattery are not flammable and have a higher combustion temperature.

StoreDot says the battery is also safe compared to conventional batteries and the FlashBattery will be available in the market in the next three years.
