This Country Is Building A City To Test Self-Driving Cars
South Korea is building a city called as K-City to test self-driving cars. The city will be opened later this year. The city will also have an expressway.
Self-Driving cars are considered as the future of automobile industry. Several automakers are developing the technology. But South Korea has gone a step further to test the self-driving cars.

South Korea will open a city named as K-City in October 2017. It is the largest test ground for self-driving vehicles in the world. In the K-City, the autonomous car developers can repeat tests with various scenarios and road conditions.

In November 2016, the South Korean government allowed the testing of self-driving cars across the country. The K-CIty will allow Korean car makers such as Hyundai and Kia Motors= to test their technology.

Currently, the K-City is under construction based on the intelligent transportation system of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority. The city will be spread across 3,60,000 square metres.

The K-City will be equipped with bus lanes, expressways and autonomous car parking zone. A budget of around 11 billion won (approximately Rs 62.67 crore) is planned to be invested in the project.

The expressways in the K-City will be opened later this year, and the complete opening of the city will be done in the first half of 2018. A self-driving car with or without permits from the government can be tested in the city.

As per experts, the K-City should be equipped with professional engineers and platforms to record and share data obtained from the testing. The data can be used in other sectors such as car insurance, urban planning and much more.
