India's Iconic Hyundai i10 Is Staring At A Bleak Future

Hyundai has chosen to phase out the i10 as the company focuses on newer and more modern models.

As per Times Of India, the withdrawal of the i10, one of Hyundai's best-selling car, comes nearly two years after it phased out another iconic model Santro.

Hyundai i10 took the mantle from Santro when the latter started facing pressure from newer models. The car was launched in 2007 and had been a success, based on its looks and price positioning.

Dealership sources said Hyundai had been changing its focus out of i10 as it looks to new-generation Grand i10, which was launched towards mid-2013. "Grand i10 was supposed to replace i10. However, with demand being still there for original i10, we had at that time decided to continue with the model for a few more years," a company official said.

The Made-in-India Hyundai i10, has been sold in the country as well overseas market. The company has sold close to 16.95 lakh cumulative sales worldwide.

Hyundai has been refurbishing its product range as it encounters increased competition competitors.

Models such as Maruti's Baleno, Swift and WagonR, Tata's Tiago, Ford's Figo and Renault's Kwid are increasing their market presence with modern features and technologies.
