Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Set Up In Delhi And Noida
State-run company National Thermal Power Corporation has set up EV charging stations in Delhi and Noida.
Electric vehicles are said to be the future of transport as the pollution due to the conventional vehicles is reaching its limits.
To promote the electric vehicles, National Thermal Power Corporation has installed charging stations at its offices in Delhi and Noida. The objective of the move is to promote clean energy transportation.

The Indian government has an ambitious plan to make Indian roads completely electric by 2030. And the installation of the EV charging stations is just beginning. An official from NTPC said that the company had entered EV charging business.

He also stated that the very first charging stations had been installed at the NTPC offices in Delhi and Noida. The company also plans to set up many charging stations across Delhi and other cities.

NTPC is a state-run company looking to create new business opportunities in the electric vehicle segment. The plan runs inline with the India's aim to have all-electric vehicles by 2010.

Previously In April, Indian Power Minister, Piyush Goyal said, "We are going to introduce electric vehicles in a very big way. We are going to make electric vehicles self-sufficient like Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA). The idea is that by 2030, not a single petrol or diesel car should be sold in the country."

The electric vehicles are not so popular as the conventional cars in India because of lack of infrastructure and high pricing. Mahindra is the only automaker to offer an electric car in the Indian market.

People looking for a small city car usually go for a combustion engine car as they are affordable, and the fuel is available across the country. Electric car manufacturer Tesla had been keen to enter India, but it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
