Audi Accused Of Cheating On Diesel Emissions Again — 24,000 Cars Recalled
The Volkswagen Group Dieselgate Emissions Scandal first came to light in 2015 and from then it just doesn't seem to want to die down.
According to a Reuters report, VW group luxury brand Audi has been accused by its home nation of Germany of cheating on diesel emissions with two of its high-end luxury cars. This is the first time that Audi has been accused of any wrongdoing with regards to the emissions scandal in Germany.

The German Transport Ministry has asked Audi luxury division to recall around 24,000 A7 and A8 models built between the years 2009 and 2013. Around 14,000 of the affected models were sold in Germany alone.

The affected A7 and A8 diesel models emit almost double the legal limit of nitrogen oxides when the steering wheel of the affected car is turned more than 15 degrees.

Audi on Thursday (June 1) recalled the 24,000 affected cars and will issue a software update in July to fix the issue which is apparently caused by problems in the interaction between transmission and engine control units.

The Volkswagen Group latest dieselgate doldrum comes less than a year after it agreed to pay a $14.8 billion fine after it was caught cheating on its emissions by regulators in the US in 2015.
