Rosberg Wins 2016 Singapore GP & Opens Up Points Advantage Over Hamilton
Nico Rosberg has never won the Singapore GP, however, he has come very close to a win at the street circuit. For the 2016 Singapore GP, Rosberg started from pole and did not allow his rivals to show him a wheel. The German driver raced excellently under immense pressure.
Red Bull Racing had a mixed result at the 2016 Singapore GP. Daniel Ricciardo was capable of fighting for the win, while teammate Max Verstappen fought valiantly in the midfield. Ricciardo finished the race in second place and Verstappen could only manage a sixth place finish.
Hamilton seemed like the biggest loser at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. From the begining, Hamilton was warned to take it easy while braking. This hampered him challenging Ricciardo for the second place. The current Formula One Champion was overtaken by Raikkonen, however, he regained his position in the next pit stops.
Kimi Raikkonen seemed like he could have challenged Hamilton for third place. Unfortunately, Scuderia Ferrari reacted to Hamilton's third pit stop. This put Raikkonen behind Hamilton in fourth and it was difficult to challenge the Mercedes that was managing its pace.
Sebastian Vettel put on an impressive show for his fans and F1 followers. The German driver started from last place as he could not participate in qualifying due to part failure. Vettel started from last and drove valiantly for a fifth place finish, jostling for position on the street circuit.
Rosberg has now taken the lead in the 2016 Formula One Championship by eight points. Hamilton now has 265 points, while teammate and title rival sits on top with 273 points. Only six races remain, and we believe this Championship will go down to the final race.
