Sauber Driver Marcus Ericsson Eyes Force India’s Vacant Seat For 2017 F1 Season
Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson feels he would be “stupid” not to look at the vacant seat at Force India seat at the 2017 F1 season
Earlier this month, Sauber F1 driver Marcus Ericsson suggested he will continue to helm the driver seat at Sauber; however, with Nico Hulkenberg's recent move from Force India to Renault has thrown open the midfield driver market.
Ericsson feels he is not on Renault's radar, but believes he will be one of the names in contention to drive for Force India in the 2017 season.
Ericsson said that it is a good seat and it does open up another possibility with Force India. He still though feels he might still be with Sauber; however, he would like to be part of the best team in grid and Force India seems to strong at this moment.
The Formula 1 driver said the Force India car is the best midfield car at the moment and that was what he requires now.
As the 2016 F1 season is drawing up to close, Sauber team principal Monisha Kaltenborn would want to quickly resolve the driver lineup of the team.
Kaltenborn said they are having discussions and hope to know their options; however, it takes two to agree.
Kaltenborn felt that both the Sauber drivers, Marcus Ericsson and team-mate Felipe Nasr could be looking at other opportunities and it is fair that everyone evaluates their options.
When asked if both the driver have done the best for the team, the team principal said that it has been a tough season and not easy for the drivers, like for any other team members.
She further added that they have done a good job, but no one can be happy with the results as you always want more.
