Formula E Unveils Futuristic Car For Season 3
Electric racing series Formula E has unveiled the first official images of the new car for the third season of the racing series, which is set to start on October 3 in Hong Kong.
The new car for the third season features a redesigned front wing, which looks quite a lot like the one on the Roborace autonomous racing series, which will act as the feeder series for the third season of Formula E.
A number of teams, including India's Mahindra Racing (who shared images of the new M3ELECTRO on Twitter) have been testing the new wing
Formula E CEO, Alejandro Agag said, "Formula E aims to be different, and this new front wing creates a look that's different to every other car out there."
"I think this is a great addition to our car and further emphasises the fact that this is a modern, forward-thinking championship that is taking a completely different approach to all other racing series."
Along with the new wing, the nose of the car has been redesigned as well. However, the changes are not for any aerodynamic gain but instead, the new design is to help the cars stand out from the rest of the single seater racing cars around the globe.
Other than the changes up front, the other major changes include a redesigned steering wheel along with lighter tyres from Michelin, which have been upgraded as well.
Even though the cars do not produce any more power than before (268bhp), the car is expected to be faster, thanks to an improved chassis and a slight drop in weight by around 8 kilograms.
