Singapore GP Marshal Incident — FIA Seeks Answer From Race Officials
Formula One witnessed a dangerous incident when a marshal was running for his life across the circuit at Singapore GP. This was the result of lack of communication between race official and not following the FIA procedures.
Safety car was deployed after the race start incident between Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz Jr. But when the safety car was called in, a marshal was running across the track right in front of race leader Nico Rosberg. This was a dangerous incident which was the end result of race officials poor communication.
Before restarting a race, according to FIA procedure, race control has to call the track clear thrice. The clerk of the course should assure that track is free of any debris or marshals. But the marshal was instructed by a circuit official to head out for the track when the race had been restarted.
Mercede team boss stated this incident as a dangerous one to ignore and also on other hand teams were demanding FIA to restarted the race as quickly as possible. Race winner Nico Rosberg too said that, it was not a great experience to see someone running across the track.
