Nissan GT Academy Asia Winner Is Jose Gerard Policarpio
Nissan had recently organised its GT Academy across Indian cities and six individuals would represent the country at Asia finals. 28 participants from across Asia took part in the final leg of Nissan GT Academy.
The first Ever Nissan GT Academy Asia Champion is Jose Gerard Policarpio, who hails from the Philippines. He is only 26 years old and has won himself a seat in Nissan's Driver Development Programme.
He also has earned a race seat in Dubai 24 Hours challenge for 2016. The Philippine driver fought with contestants through a six-day Race Camp, which was held at the iconic Silverstone.
Jose Gerard Policarpio, expressed, "I can't even believe I won, it's amazing, I feel so good. Never in my life did I think I'd be here. The race was so nerve-racking, when I got past Andika at Abbey I just kept looking back because he was starting to gain on me."
He further added, "I didn't even notice the checkered flag, it just sunk in when I got back in the pitlane that I won. It's just amazing!"
India's Akshay Gupta also made it to the podium of Nissan GT Academy Asia Finals. He finished a close third and should be proud of himself. We are sure Nissan will utilise his talent in some form.
