Indian Grand Prix Will Not Happen Until At Least 2016, Says Ecclestone
Bernie Ecclestone, president and CEO, Formula One Management has poured a bucket of cold water on Indian Formula One enthusiasts and racing fans by recently stating that the motorsports event will not return to Indian soil before 2016. Even then a return in 2016 is unlikely to happen if the problems relating to heavy taxation by the government is not sorted out.
"At the moment, India won't be on for next year for sure," said Ecclestone. "Probably 2016 ... they're gradually getting over all the bureaucracy with the tax position inside the country and the general finance."

The Indian Grand Prix was held at the Buddh International Circuit at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh from 2011 till 2013. Formula One did not return to India due to the sports being categorised as entertainment by the government which results in heavy taxes being levied. Even the race cars that are brought in for the event are taxed as regular imported road-cars.
By 2016 the number of venues competing for a spot in the F1 calendar would also have increased, with Azerbaijan more or less confirmed to be included. This year, Russia's Sochi is the only new addition. Also making a return after a decade long absence is Austria, where the race will take place in at the Spielberg circuit.
