Hyundai Battery Powered Car Launch In 2016
Hyundai has confirmed that it's first ever battery powered car will debut in 2016. The announcement of the plan was made by Senior Vice President Lee Ki-sang during the launch of it's sister company Kia's Soul compact electric vehicle in South Korea.
Hyundai, along with Honda, is among the few automakers seriously investing in development of hydrogen fuel cell cars. Hyundai ix35 is the company's roadworthy fuel cell vehicle which currently runs in limited numbers in the United States and the UK.

Hyundai's sister company Kia on the other hand focuses on developing battery powered electric vehicles.
"There is no clear direction about which eco-friendly cars will win. We are dividing roles of Hyundai and Kia, with Hyundai launching fuel cell cars and Kia focusing on electric cars," Reuters quotes Senior Vice President Lee Ki-sang.
"But the time will come when Kia will introduce a fuel-cell car. Hyundai is also preparing to launch a (battery-powered) electric car in 2016," Lee told reporters at the Korean launch of the Soul EV.

Kia Soul EV will become the company's first battery powered electric car to be exported to the United States and Europe. While Nissan Leaf is the world's best selling electric vehicle the Kia Soul EV sales should not be affected owing to its different body style.
