Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Online Sale Postponed After Website Crashes
Royal Enfield launched the limited edition Classic 500 Pegasus in the Indian market in May 2018. The online sales of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus commenced on July 10 at exactly 2PM onwards. But the sale is postponed as the Royal Enfield website crashed due to the overwhelming response from the buyers.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is priced at Rs 2.49 lakh on-road (Maharashtra) and only 250 units of the limited edition models will be sold in India. As there were thousands of bikers interested to buy the Classic 500 Pegasus, the moment the flash sale began, the website crashed.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is inspired by the RE/WB 125 two-stroke motorcycle which was used in the World War II. The bike was used by the British paratroopers during the war and was popularly known as the Flying Flea.
The Flying Flea was used by the British paratroopers for communication and carrying soldiers to the battlefield. The bikes were airdropped with the help of a parachute. The RE/WB 125 was a very light motorcycle, and the soldiers carried the bikes on their shoulders when the terrain got too rough to ride a bike.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus draws power the same 499cc engine producing 27.2bhp and 41.2Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. Other components such as the chassis, brakes and tyres remain the same as the Classic 500 model.
Similar to the original Flying Flea, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus features a Pegasus logo on the tank, military-style canvas panniers leather straps with brass buckles and a stencilled unique numbering on the side of the fuel tank.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus also gets blacked out headlamp bezel, engine, exhaust muffler and rims. Globally, the limited edition Classic 500 Pegasus is available in Service Brown and Olive Drab Green colour options. But in the Indian market, only the Service Brown colour will be available to the customers.
Thoughts On The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is launched to pay tribute to the legendary RE/WB 125 Flying Flea. With an affordable price tag, the limited edition model created a lot of hype in the country. Now, the Royal Enfield website has crashed during the sales of the motorcycle. Royal Enfield will soon announce the revised date for the online sale of the Classic 500 Pegasus.
