Indian Motorcycle Prices Drop After GST
Indian Motorcycle has dropped the prices of its three models in the Indian market.
The Government of India has introduced the Goods and Service Tax (GST) in India from July 1, 2017. The new tax regime has resulted in a revision in prices of both cars and bikes.
Indian Motorcycle has also revised the prices of its three models in the Indian market. Indian Scout, Indian Dark Horse and Indian Chief Classic have got a price cut after GST. The Indian Chief Classic receives the maximum price cut of Rs 2.21 lakh.
Prices Ex-Showroom (India)
Model | Pre-GST | Post-GST | Price Difference |
Indian Scout | Rs 14.75 Lakh | Rs 12.99 Lakh | Rs 1.76 Lakh |
Indian Dark Horse | Rs 23.4 Lakh | Rs 21.25 Lakh | Rs 2.15 Lakh |
Indian Chief Classic | Rs 24.2 Lakh | Rs 21.99 Lakh | Rs 2.21 Lakh |
Under the new GST tax regime, automobiles come under the luxury goods, which attracts a tax rate of 28 percent. Bikes with engine capacity of more than 350cc are levied with additional cess.
But the high-end bikes have benefitted from GST, as the tax rate has come down compared to the old taxation policy. So, Indian Motorcycle has decided to pass the benefit to the customers.
