Ather Energy Electric Scooter Launch Delayed — Reasons Revealed
Bengaluru-based startup company, Ather Energy has delayed the launch of its electric scooter, the S340 due to various reasons.
Bengaluru-based electric mobility startup firm Ather Energy had unveiled its first prototype scooter, the S340, in February 2016. The company was aiming to start production of the vehicle by the end of 2016.
But according to a report from TeamBHP, the launch of the electric scooter has been delayed by a year. This information was revealed by the co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy.
The co-founder of the startup firm has stated that it is a significant challenge to develop an entirely new product, based on a new platform and more than that using a technology which is still not accepted in the market.
He also stated that building a team to meet the challenges at hand is a tough task and it took a lot of time which in turn delayed the launch of the electric scooter.
He further said, "Being a new product, we don't have years of customer and field data. Working around that, (testing on the bench and in the field) meant we took longer than we thought it would."
Clarifying the reasons behind the delay he added, "A first attempt meant that we are doing technology development in parallel with product development - and that's hard to parallelize."
For now, the electric scooter project has postponed for at least a year. Although, the co-founder of the company did not mention a specific timeline for the launch.
