Bajaj Auto Retains 2nd Position, Overtakes Honda

Bajaj Auto retained 2nd position in terms of sales overtaking Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) in the month of April. The two and three-wheeler major reported a four per cent increase in its total sales at 381,590 units from 367,309 units sold in April 2011. Currently, Hero Motocorp stands at the 1st position.

Bajaj motorcycle business president K Srinivas said: "We will continue with our focused approach as a motorcycle specialist. This is what has enabled us to become the second largest bike maker in India and the third largest in the world.”

He added, "We would like to place on record that for the month of April, we continue to be the second-largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India and have a significant lead over the third-largest manufacturer. With a number of new launches planned in the coming months, we are confident of outpacing industry growth in 2012-13."

Bajaj Auto sold 2,00,228 units in April against Honda's 1,93,197 units. HMSI, for the first time, had overtaken Bajaj Auto in March, 2012 to be the 2nd largest motorcycle manufacturer in India. HMSI had recorded sales of 212812 units against Bajaj Auto's 210383 units.
