Yamaha Sales up 29 %; More Sales Expected

Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today reported its sales figures for the month of July. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer said its sales roe 28.49% in July at 38,197 units. Yamaha sold 29,021 units in the domestic market as compared to the 22,899 units it sold in July 2010. This is a 26.73 per cent increase in domestic sales.

On the export from India Yamaha Motor said sales had increased by 34.37 per cent to 9,176 units in July. Yamaha builds the FZ series of bikes in India and its superbikes are imported as CBUs from Japan.

In his statement to the media India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and MD Hiroyuki Suzuki said: “We are pleased with the consistent sales growth that we've been witnessing month-on-month this year... We are also very upbeat about the upcoming festive season which will further propel our sales."

Yamaha is expecting sales to be on a higher scale in the coming months starting with August. The Indian festive season is the best period for car and bike manufacturers as Indian consumers have shown a tendency of buying more vehicles during this period. To further Increase its sales performance, India Yamaha Motors has decided to increase its presence in the Tier II and Tier III cities. We can expect more and more Yamaha showrooms in the smaller cities.
