The two-wheeler division of Mahindra & Mahindra has said its sales during the month of July rose by 8 per cent after it sold 13,012 units. Mahindra Two Wheelers said it had sold a total of 45,288 units during this fiscal year as against the 39,291 units it had sold in the corresponding period last year. This is a 15 per cent increase in total sales.

Mahindra & Mahindra President (Two Wheeler Sector) Anoop Mathur said: “We are witnessing higher growth momentum on the back of increasing consumer preference for our scooter brands in many key markets across the country."

Mahindra and Mahindra started its two wheeler business after it took over Kinetic motors and renamed it as Mahindra Two Wheelers. The company sells scooters such as the Flyte, Duro and Rodeo. The company which failed to see success in the Stallio motorcycle due to a faulty gearbox is planning to relaunch it soon with a revamped gearbox.

The Indian consumer bike sector is seeing a revolution of sorts with more and more sporty motorcycles entering the fray. The Mahindra Stallio is one product that Mahindra Two Wheelers will be banking on to make a mark in the motorcycle sector.
