TVS, the third highest selling two wheeler manufacturer in India did not wait too long to launch its own performance bike. TVS launched the Apache RTR 180 following the success of the Fiero. TVS first launched the 150cc version and followed it with a 160cc version. But the bike that took the market by storm was the Apache RTR 180. The 180 has a more powerful and responsive engine and handles beautifully. The Apache has been able to match the performance of the Bajaj Pulsar 220 despite having a smaller engine thanks to its race bred DNA.
The latest variant of the Apache 180 is the RTS 180 ABS. This is India's first two wheeler to get Anti Lock Braking (ABS). Although the ABS adds to the price of the Apache, it is one of the most grippy bikes in low traction situations.
