Representatives of the Worker's Union have repeatedly said that they are not ready to sign the agreement as it was illegal and restricted their right to protect their interests.

Another demand being made by the workers' union is the reinstatement of 17 workers who were suspended on the grounds of disrupting business and, abusing and threatening supervisors.

The workers are demanding that the plant be opened unconditionally.

The tension between the Toyota Kirloskar management and the workers' union revolves around the the latter's demand for a pay hike of Rs 4,000. The automaker is ready to increase the pay by only Rs 3,050 and the two have currently locked horns, with the Karnataka government acting as mediator.
