The lockout of at Toyota Kirloskar's two manufacturing facilities in Bidadi, near Bangalore will end on Monday, March 24th. The lockout was initiated on the 16th of this month to safeguard "law-abiding team members" and infrastructure from agitating workers.

In a statement released by Toyota Kirloskar the management has said that team members can return back to work on March 24th. However, they will be required to sign a simple undertaking on good conduct.

The decision was reached after tripartite meetings were held between the management, the Toyota Kirloskar Motor Employees' Union and government authorities.

While the official statement from Toyota does not mention whether or not a resolution has been achieved, the labour union has clearly stated that the negotiations are still on, reports The Hindu.

The union head has also stated that workers will not sign the undertaking on good conduct until their demand relating to wage hike is reached.

The workers at the two plants want the wage to be increased by 4,000, but the management is not willing to go beyond Rs 3,050.

The first of the two Toyota Kirloskar manufacturing facilities in Bidadi was set up in 1997. The two plants combined employ a workforce of over 6,000 people.
