2015 Ferrari 458 Italia Turbocharged Engine Details Emerge
Ferrari California T was the first of a new breed of Ferrari models to get turbocharged engines. As is already known, the 458 Italia is the next in line to be updated with a new engine and a facelift.
According to CAR magazine, the next-gen Ferrari 458 Italia will be called the 458M. That or it's a pre-production code-name.
While it was rumoured that the new 458 would continue to be powered by a V8 engine instead of a V6, the report states that this engine would be the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 unit from the new California T.

In the California T, the twin-turbo V8 produces 552 horsepower and 753 Nm of torque, but naturally, the engine will be tuned to output more power. According to CAR, that would be 670 horsepower, which is a good 100 HP more than what the current naturally-aspirated 4.5-litre V8 engine in the 458 develops.

This would also allow the new 458 to effectively compete against its chief rival, the new McLaren 650S, which already uses a twin-turbo V8 with a displacement of 3.8 litres.

Since the new 458 would use a turbo, to make it sound more ‘Ferrari-like', the company would make complex tweaks to the exhaust system and made certain changes to the electronic engine management system.
Ferrari is also likely to implement lessons learnt from the development of the LaFerrari to improve the 458's aerodynamics.
The 2015 Ferrari 458 has already been spotted undergoing testing and is expected to make its debut next year at the Geneva Motor Show or at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
