McLaren P13 Details, Fully Electric & Hybrid Supercar, & More
McLaren, as a company that produces sports cars, is very new. Barring the F1, the company only brought out its first mainstream sports car - the 12C - about three years ago.
Nevertheless, the company has been taking huge strides in terms of bringing out news models and has achieved success in its new business. So, how is McLaren going to be as a company in the next 10 years?
McLaren Managing Director Mike Flewitt who recently spoke to Edmunds revealed the following details.
McLaren P13
Known internally as the P13, this will be the company's entry level car, priced at about $210,000, with a scheduled reveal at the 2015 Geneva motor Show.
To be a Porsche 911 Turbo S rival, the P13 will be the same size as the company's new 650S sports car. That's because the P13 will share the company's carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, albeit in a modified form and with mid-engine placement.
However, the P13 will be a more practical car, with easy ingress and egress, and storage space for luggage.
The P13 will be powered by a detuned version of the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as well, with a 0-100 km/h time of 4 seconds and a top speed of 297 km/h, performance figures that fall slightly short of the 650S's numbers.

McLaren P15
The P15 will be a model placed above the 650S, but below the P1. Expected to be launched in 2017, this model will be priced in the region of $500,000-600,000.
However, this model is likely going to be a hybrid like the P1 as well. A true successor to the P1 will, however, arrive only in about 10 years time.

Hybrid & All-Electric McLarens
Speaking about hybridization, Flewitt also revealed that in the next decade or so all of McLaren's products would be hybrids to some extent.
In fact, Flewitt told Edmunds, "We will offer two or three mainstream cars, plus some specialty models - something like the P1 or perhaps even a full-electric car."
In terms of brand awareness, McLaren is not in the same playing field as the Ferraris and Porsches, but that's something the company is working towards currently.
