B'lore: June 9 New Deadline To Remove Sun Films

Earlier, the Traffic Police had extended the initial deadline of May 19 to June 5 giving enough time for four wheeler owners to comply with the law. Incidents of Regional Transport Office (RTO) officers stopping vehicles sporting tinted glass and fining car owners on Tuesday, June 5 were reported from many parts of the city. The Traffic Police were expected to start action June 6 with the deadline ending on June 5, but RTO officials claimed that the deadline for removing sun films from vehicles ended on June 5. Heated arguments were made between RTO officials with many refusing to pay fines.
However, the yet again extended deadline has given more time to car owners who haven't removed sun films from cars. The Supreme Court had banned the use of tinted glass on cars blocking vision beyond permissible limits prescribed under the Motor Vehicles Act due to increasing criminal activities and the rule has come into effect in many other cities of the country.
