Over 200 Caught For Sporting Tinted Glass

Confusion arised as many were expecting the traffic police to start acting on the Supreme Court order from Wednesday, June 6. Even before the traffic police, it was the Regional Transport Office (RTO) which started the drive to catch violators.
However, Transport Commissioner Shyam Bhat claimed that the deadline for removing sun films from vehicles ended on June 5. Squads of RTO officers are reportedly on patrol to catch offenders within the jurisdiction of the 10 RTO divisions in Bangalore.
Meanwhile, arguments were made between officers and vehicle owners on the final date to remove sun films from vehicles. It should be noted that vehicle owners had enough time to comply with the rule with the traffic police extending the initial deadline of May 19 to June 5.
Offenders were slapped with tickets across the city at ares like Yeswantpur, Indiranagar, Jayangar, Jnanabharathi, Yelahanka and Electronics City. While, violators were fined with Rs 100, second-time offenders will be fined with Rs 300 and in case of repetition of offense, the driving licence will be confiscated with an additional fine of Rs 300.
