Honda Sales Triple Hike; GM Suffers

Honda Brio
Honda Siel Cars India has posted an impressive April sales figures after seeing steep falls in sales for most of this year. Honda's April sales for 2012 stands at an impressive 7,075 units from previous April's sales of 2,012 units.

Honda's sales performance can be credited to the new Brio and the Jazz. Both hatchbacks have received huge bookings and Honda has for the first time in many years reached full production capacity in its plant.

General Motors, the American carmaker has suffered a 20% decrease in April sales. The company managed to sell just over 8000 cars this April as against the 10,000 cars it had sold in April 2011. The Beat and the Tavera have been Chevrolet's best selling cars as always.

General Motors sold 4,586 Beats in April. GM India vice President P Balendran who spoke about the company's sales in April said the high fuel prices and the uncertainty in the market lead to reduced sales. He also stated that many people decided to buy cars before the Union budget and hence April sales got affected.

Sales in April have been slow for some carmakers such as GM and Tata Motors. However there are a few who saw an astronomical increase in sales. Honda has been the one with the biggest growth followed by Nissan Motors. Toyota has posted a 49% increase this April.
