Tata Motors Contemplating Aria Export

Tata Motors' head of group-utility vehicles Rajesh Nair said: “ The crossover meets all global standards and is ready for export. We have begun selling the crossover launched in October 2010 in Nepal and hope to follow this up by introducing in other markets."
Mr Nair was speaking at the launch of the two-wheel-drive Aria in Andhra Pradesh. He added: “the company is betting big on the festive season to increase sales volumes. The utility market had grown significantly last year (19 per cent) and has registered a growth of about 8 per cent during the current fiscal. We hope that the market would get better and these numbers would sustain during the year."
Tata Motors has said sales of the Aria were going at an expected rate. With the Aria being positioned as a premium product the carmaker did not expect the crossover to create a stir in the market. However the launch of the two-wheel-drive Aria has increased Tata Motors' expectations. Mr Nair said: “We are able to market over 250-300 Arias a month since its launch. The 2x4 introduction will further boost the company presence in the segment where Aria is pitted."
Tata Motors has sold 42,500 utility vehicles during the last fiscal year. The carmaker currently has a market share of 13 per cent and intends to boost it further by launching new variants and models.
