Best Scooters For Short Riders (Ladies/ Men) In India
Scooters are the easiest means to commute in a city. They are gear-less, comfortable and return good fuel efficiency. So what if you are short and you are looking for a gearless scooter for everyday usage? Both men and women face such a situation.
One key thing to remember is that even if both your feet do not touch the ground, one firm foot on the ground is enough. Also, keep in mind that wearing platform shoes are strictly not recommended while riding.

5. TVS Wego
Weighing 104 kg, the Wego features body balance technology-which plainly means it is a good handling scooter. It also features 12-inch wheels, which means the scooter becomes taller, but TVS has managed to keep the seat height at 770 mm, which is a tad bit higher than the Honda counterpart. The 8 bhp four-stroke motor returns 51 kmpl.
4. Honda Activa i
The Honda Activa i has a very smooth, efficient engine that churns out 8 bhp and 8.7 Nm of torque, quite similar to the Dio. It weighs 103 kg and is a very smart choice, especially if you are a lady looking for something apart from the Activa, which is 5 kg heavier. Seat height is the same too, at 765 mm, but the lightness is an advantage, and so is its 60 kmpl mileage.
3. Honda Dio
Up next is the Honda Dio, which weighs 105 kg and has a seat height of 765 mm. The Dio is a very stylish scooter as well, which is well suited for men and women. Powering it is an air-cooled, four-stroke engine that produces 8 bhp, 8.7 Nm of torque and returns 60 kmpl.
2. Yamaha Ray
Next on the list is the Yamaha Ray. It has a seat height of 760 mm, which is one of the lowest on offer in India. The Ray weighs only 104 kg and is powered by a four-stroke, air-cooled engine that produces 7.1 PS and 8.1 Nm of peak torque. It returns 43 -kmpl.
1. Mahindra Gusto
The Mahindra Gusto is the first scooter in India to offer aheight adjustable seat. Set to its lowest position, it is just 735 mm tall, which makes it the lowest scooter, but also the heaviest scooter of the lot at 120 kg. The seat is designed in a way that your legs can reach the ground. Powering this scooter is a 8 PS engine that returns 60 kmpl.
Now, if all these scooters with the lowest ride heights still make you uncomfortable, there are a couple more options to try out. One, is once you have zeroed in on one of the scooters and bought it, you can take it to a shop that does seat upholstery and cut away a bit of foam from the seat. This will lower the seat further.
Another idea is, while stopping, be it at signals, while commuting or anywhere for that matter, you could sit a little forward, towards the edge of the seat, which will help you reach the ground. This method is not very advisable though.
