Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS BS6 Petrol Mileage Figures Revealed: Detailed Comparison To Its Rivals
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS BS6 petrol variant mileage figures have been revealed. The company had updated the petrol engine to achieve BS6 compliance earlier this year, and also added a new turbo-engine to the Grand i10 NIOS BS6.

The Hyundai Grand i10 BS6 is known to be the next-generation model of the Grand i10 in the Indian market. The hatchback is offered with a host of engine options including the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The top-spec 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine produces 100bhp and 172Nm of torque.

According to Autocar India, the Grand i10 NIOS turbo-petrol engine returns an ARAI-tested mileage of 20.3km/l. In comparison, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine returns 20.7km/l. Considering the huge power difference between both engines, the figures look negligible.

The other turbo-petrol hatchback offered in the Indian market is the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine powering the Polo produces 110bhp and 175Nm of torque — 10bhp and 3Nm torque more than the Grand i10 NIOS.

However, the Polo returns an ARAI-certified mileage of 18.24km/l, which is 2km/l less than the Hyundai's turbo-petrol hatchback. Also, the Polo GT TSI engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox as compared to the Grand i10 NIOS's five-speed manual.

The Grand i10 NIOS Turbo is the cheapest car to be offered with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine in the Indian market. Prices for the Grand i10 NIOS Turbo starts at Rs 7.98 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). The Grand i10 Turbo variant is offered on two trim levels: Sportz and Sportz (dual-tone). The turbo-petrol engine is offered with a standard five-speed manual gearbox only.

Apart from the Grand i10 NIOS turbo-petrol variant, the hatchback is also offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 76bhp and 124Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or an AMT automatic. The same engine is also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The 1.2-litre petrol-CNG unit churns out 66bhp and 95Nm of torque — 10bhp and 19Nm of torque less, compared to its petrol-powered version.

The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is the only hatchback among its competitors to offer a naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a petrol-CNG unit, a turbo-petrol motor, and a 1.2-litre diesel oil burner. Its rivals such as the Ford Figo, the Maruti Suzuki Swift, and the Tata Tiago, receive only petrol and/or diesel engine options.
