Ather To Launch Most Affordable Electric Scooter – New EL Platform Explained!
Ather Energy is gearing up to launch its first scooter based on the EL platform, which is expected to support multiple models in the future. According to reports, the brand is planning to introduce this new model soon as its most affordable offering.
Ather Energy To Launch Most Affordable Electric Scooter
The Indian electric scooter segment is growing steadily, with over 9% penetration in the overall scooter market. Ather Energy, being one of the leading brands, is strengthening its position with the family-focused Ather Rizta, which has achieved strong success in urban markets.

Ather's New EL Platform
The EL platform is a low-cost architecture developed to make electric scooters more accessible. However, it is unlikely to be priced below ₹1 lakh, which still remains on the higher side for the entry-level scooter segment in India.
The current Ather portfolio includes three models-the Rizta, Ather 450, and the 450 Apex. The entry-level price of the lineup starts at around ₹1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering this, the upcoming EL platform-based scooter could be priced close to ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom).

The brand is also expanding its market share in the EV segment and is currently among the top three EV two-wheeler manufacturers, alongside TVS and Bajaj. Ather Energy is also actively expanding its charging network and service footprint across the country to reach a wider customer base.
What's the Strategy?
Ather's strategy with the EL platform is to attract more buyers with a relatively affordable offering. The upcoming scooter is also expected to feature advanced connected technologies, including updates from the AtherStack Pro, enhancing the overall riding experience. It is likely to focus on daily practicality and usability, similar to the Rizta, which has gained popularity among family buyers.
Ather is expected to continue to strengthen its design, technology, and usability to make this new model a successful addition to its lineup. The upcoming scooter is expected to offer a range of around 100 km per charge. It will compete with rivals such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1X series, and Hero Vida VX2 electric scooters.
