The sportier iteration of the successful hatchback from Maruti Suzuki, the Baleno RS was supposed to be launched in this year's festive season.
But due to manufacturing constraints, the launch was delayed to 2017. According to reports, the Baleno RS will sport a premium interior compared to the currently sold regular Baleno in the market.
The interior of the Baleno RS will include leather upholstery for seats which will have the RS branding. Apart from that, the sports hatch will feature aluminum pedals and special floor mats.
The other features of the Baleno RS include - seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers.
The Baleno RS will be equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels. The only other car to have this feature is the Fiat Abarth Punto, so Baleno RS will be the lone affordable hatchback in India to have all-wheel disc brakes.
The other safety features of the hatchback include dual airbags and ABS will be offered as standard. But the main highlight of the car is its Boosterjet engine.
This is the first turbocharged petrol engine from Maruti Suzuki. The engine is expected to deliver 110bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Transmission options include five-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. It is expected that the car will get paddle shifters.
The Baleno RS will standout from its regular version with its sportier front and rear bumper. The rear bumper will sport faux diffusors. The front end of the car features Bi-xenon headlamps and LED daytime running lights.
When launched the Baleno RS will be pitted against the likes of Fiat Abarth Punto, Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo GT. The sports hatchback will be sold through Maruti Suzuki's NEXA premium dealerships.
