Harley-Davidson Livewire Electric Motorcycle Set For Launch; Images
This is big news, and both expected and unexpected. Big news because its an electric motorcycle coming from a traditional and conservative company like Harley Davidson; expected because it was spotted just a couple of days back and was even confirmed last year; but unexpected because we did not expect it make its official debut this soon.
Harley Davidson electric motorcycle, which now has a name, - Livewire - is set for a launch on June 19 in the U.S. While details are nil, we have a few leaked images to share with you, courtesy of Bothan Spies (via Asphalt&Rubber). There's also a teaser video at the end of the slide which you might want to have a look at.
The story continues in the next section. Click through the slides for more.

The name "Livewire" was registered by Harley Davidson over a year back and the same has been confirmed to be the name of the company's first electric motorcycle.
The Livewire will break cover on June 19 in the U.S. However, we expect the motorcycle to take a little more time before it actually hits the streets.
From the earlier spy shots and these leaked images, the Livewire looks production ready or very close to it and it will definitely surprise us if Harley Davidson comes out with a ready to ride model of its first electric motorcycle without first previewing a concept. Usually, a major move like this is not implemented over night.
The Livewire is characterized by a clean and sleek design, while still maintaining its family look.
At the same time, the Livewire features a few first-time elements (besides the fact that its an electric bike, of course) such as an LED headlamp and mirrors (also with integrated LED turn indicators) mounted on the headstock.
Then there is the instrument panel, which, as expected from an electric motorcycle, looks like an LCD display.
We also see that the Livewire is belt driven and is a double sided swing arm.
We'll have to wait till tomorrow for details such as range, performance and other technical details.
Harley Davidson broke from the mould last year by launching small displacement motorcycles, also their first new motorcycles in about a decade, the Street 750 and its smaller sibling, the Street 500.
The launch of the all-electric Livewire is a journey down the same path, which thought might be criticized by conservative Harley customers and fans, is certainly the right path for the company.
Stay tuned for more details about the Livewire coming your way. You can watch the teaser video in the next slide.
