Honda Shine Reaches 3 Million Sales Milestone In India – A New Record In 125cc Motorcycle Segment

The Honda Shine is among the best-selling motorcycles in India, and it is currently the best-selling 125cc motorcycle in the country. Now, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that more than 3 million units of Shine motorcycles have been sold in India.

However, this achievement was not made overnight. In fact, it took more than 17.5 years to achieve this remarkable feat, and the journey to achieve this feat was not simple either.

When Honda first launched the Honda Shine motorcycle in India, the 125cc motorcycle segment was pretty tightly packed with motorcycles such as Bajaj Discover, Hero Honda Glamour, Hero Honda Super Splendor, Yamaha Gladiator and a few more.

So the competition for the top spot was very tough in the 125cc motorcycle segment in India. However, Honda Shine sales figures started to gradually increase over the years and Honda also made sure the Shine was updated in a periodic manner to suit newer customers.

Also, over the years, many Honda Shine customers were impressed with the quality and reliability offered by Honda Shine motorcycle. Thanks to this word-of-mouth from Honda Shine customers, Honda was able to further increase the sales of Shine motorcycles in India.

In 11 years, Honda managed to sell 15 lakh units of Honda Shine motorcycles in India. However, in the next 6.5 years, Honda managed to replicate the same sales figures, totalling 3 million unit sales in under 17.5 years.

Speaking about the Honda Shine, the motorcycle features a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine originally came with a 4-speed gearbox, however, it was later upgraded to a 5-speed unit for better efficiency.

At present, Honda even launched the Sports Edition of the Honda SP125 motorcycle in India to attract more customers this festive season and boost its overall sales figures. Like most special edition motorcycles, the Honda SP125 Sports Edition also features some visual changes over the standard model.

Some of the noticeable changes on the Honda Shine SP125 Sports Edition over the standard model include a Matte muffler cover, and updated graphics. This model is available in two shades - Decent Blue Metallic, and Heavy Grey Metallic.
