Royal Enfield Registers 91 Units In Sales During April 2020
Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has registered 91 units in sales for the month of April 2020, even with a suspension in production activities because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Royal Enfield had earlier announced a suspension of operations and manufacturing facilities across India and the United Kingdom. All corporate offices and dealerships have been shut since 23 March.
The company's Tiruvottiyur, Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal plants in Chennai, and it's entire supply chain including dealerships, have remained closed across the country through the month of April as well.
Royal Enfield said in a statement that it would continue to monitor the situation and other developments, and that it would take educated decisions that are in sync with regulatory and administrative mandates. The company has also requested for a policy that includes steps for reviving demand in the sector.
In related news, Royal Enfield registered a 33 percent growth in export sales for the month of March 2020. The brand exported 3,184 units during the month as compared to the 2,397 units it exported during March 2019.
The company's 650 Twin models registered a 25.30 percent year on year growth with 1,664 units exported as compared to the 1,328 units exported during March 2019. To know more, click here.
In other Royal Enfield related news, the company is preparing to launch its new 350cc offering, the Meteor Fireball, in India later this year. The motorcycle has been spotted while testing numerous times, and images have been doing the rounds of the internet.
While there is no major design change made to the Meteor (it continues to look like the brand's Thunderbird X models), it features a round headlamp assembly, split seats, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a blacked out engine, and a retro styled tail light, among a host of other features. Thoughts About Royal Enfield Selling 91 Motorcycles During April
Honestly, we weren't expecting any sales during the month of April, considering consumer spend patterns have changed, and that most folk are confined to their homes. It is good to see some activity in the industry.
