KTM & Husqvarna Expansion Plans For Indian Market: New Models Arriving Soon
Two-wheeler manufacturers KTM and Husqvarna are looking to rapidly expand their model line-up in the Indian market. There are a couple of new models that will be arriving soon in the country.

According to Autocar India, the launch of upcoming motorcycles by both brands are expected to start from October 2020. These model were supposed to arrive much earlier in the market. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the launch timelines have been shifted.

KTM will be launching a couple of new motorcycles in India. This includes the entry-level 250 Adventure and new paint schemes of its existing RC 125 and RC 200 fully-faired motorcycles.
The 250 Adventure will borrow most of its features and equipment from its elder sibling the 390 Adventure. However, the powertrain will be borrowed for its naked-sibling the Duke 250. The 250 Adv will be powered by the liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 249cc engine.

It produces a maximum of 29.6bhp at 9000rpm and a peak torque of 24Nm at 7500rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Other features such as the steel-trellis frame, subframe, and alloy wheels that are borrowed from its elder sibling.

It will also feature the same 100/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear wheel sizes. However, the 250 comes shod with MRF Mogrip Meteor FM2 tubeless tyres as compared to the 390's superior Continental tyres.

The 250 Adventure is also expected to feature the same TFT display for instrument console borrowed from its elder sibling. However, the 250 Adventure will miss out on some features such as traction control, ride-by-wire and quick-shifter.

Suspension and braking hardware will be borrowed from the 390 adventure as well. This includes a 43mm WP Apex front fork and a WP Apex mono-shock setup at the rear. Braking setup consists of a 320mm single disc up front and a 230mm unit at the rear. The 250 Adventure will get dual-channel ABS with off-road mode.

Coming to the RC siblings, the 125cc and the 200cc fully-faired motorcycle will feature new paint scheme with redesigned graphics and bold colours. The new paint schemes are expected to give the motorcycles enhanced looks.

Currently, both KTM RC 125 and RC 200 are available in single paint schemes that are different for its elder-sibling the KTM RC 390. The RC 125 features a dual-tone gloss-white colour with an orange tank and graphics.

While the RC200 features a black and grey dual-tone scheme with orange accents across the motorcycle. The RC 125 and RC 200 retails at Rs 1.55 lakh and Rs 1.97 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi), respectively.

Moving to Husqvarna, the company will be launching the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 motorcycle in the India market sometime next month. Both these motorcycles are based on the KTM Duke 390 and borrow most of the mechanicals hardware as well.

The Svartpilen 401 (called the Black Arrow) is a scrambler-style motorcycle and features a modern-retro design. While the Vitpilen (called the Silver Arrow) is a cafe-racer style motorcycle that features clip-on handlebars. Both these motorcycles look identical to their 250cc siblings that are already available in the Indian market.

Both the 401s are powered by a 373cc single-cylinder engine borrowed from KTM motorcycles. The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 44bhp and 37Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox, and a slipper-assist clutch — here are more details.
