KTM & Husqvarna motorcycles waiting period is up to three months. Both brands have partially resumed production after relaxations on the nation-wide lockdown was announced recently.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, majority of auto manufacturers have been affected as they had to suspend production operations for the last two months. Additionally, there are reports suggesting that there will be a substantial increase in demand for affordable vehicles as an alternative to public transport.
As a result, deliveries of motorcycles to the customers who have booked earlier and new bookings received after the lockdown might be affected. According to Autocar India, customers who have booked or is looking to purchase KTM and Husqvarna motorcycle is expected to face a delay of around three months.
There are several factors that will come into play with the dealy in motorcycles getting delivered. Majority of the issues occur during the production and supply of parts. However, there are other factors such as export operations, which KTM uses to bring motorcycles to the Indian shores.
KTM usually exports around 5,000 bikes a month, and there has now been a set back due to the shutdown. As a result, the brand will focus on clearing the export backlog as the operations have resumed back at the KTM's plant in Austria.
The production plant in India is also gradually resuming operations and is not operating under full capacity. There could be delayed in the supply of parts from vendors who are operating from containment zones in the country.
The dealerships which were also shut down due to the pandemic are resuming operations in select cities across India as per the rules from the government. Once that existing stock held during the lockdown is cleared, customer will have to wait until fresh stock arrives. With so many factors affecting, it is a no brainer that deliveries will get affected, however, we expect KTM to quickly bring it down as it regains operations at full capacity.
The wait times will vary depending on the model, with the Duke 125 and RC 125 is expected to have a shorter wait time of around one month. The Duke 200 and RC 200, is expected to have a waiting period of around 45 days. Meanwhile, the 250 Duke, 390 Duke, RC 390, and the 390 Adventure are expected to have a delay of around two months. The newly launched Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and the Svartpilen 250 will have a 45-day and three months wait times, respectively.
In related news, KTM have increased the prices of their motorcycle recently. The entire range of motorcycles gets an increase of Rs 5,000 in the Indian market — here are all the details.
Thoughts About The KTM & Husqvarna Motorcycles Waiting Period
Most of the businesses are resuming operations after the nation-wide lockdown was partially lifted in the country. A manufacturing process depends on many internal and external factors, while the internal processes are getting up to speed, it would certainly take time for external suppliers to start meeting the demand and reach normalcy. As a result, the delays are expected, but it should reduce soon in the coming days.
