Royal Enfield Interceptor And Continental GT 650 Twins Receive Minor Upgrades
Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has made minor cosmetic changes to its flagship Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 motorcycles. The changes do not command a premium and the motorcycles continue to be priced as usual.

According to GaadiWaadi, the changes Royal Enfield have made to the 650 twins are safety and visability related. The motorcycle manufacturer has replaced the existing headlamp lens with a ‘clear' lens thus increasing brightness, and throw of light on the road.

The second update is the addition of amber coloured reflectors on the outer fork legs to make the motorcycle more visible from the side. Dealers have confirmed that they have started receiving stock of the updates motorcycle. Royal Enfield however, has not issued a statement about the upgrades or the dispatch to dealers.

While the new features are just minor changes, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 now qualify as international-spec motorcycles. The changes were implemented on the bikes at the time the company started exporting them to Europe and the United States.

Both the Interceptor and the Continental GT feature a 649cc, air/ oil-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp of power and 52Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The Interceptor 650 is available in six different colours - Glitter And Dust, Silver Spectre, Baker Express, Mark Three, Ravishing Red, and Orange Crush. The motorcycle is priced between Rs 2.51 lakh and Rs 2.71 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Continental GT 650 is available in five different colours - Black Magic, Dr. Mayhem, Ice Queen, Ventura Blue, and Mister Clean. The motorcycle is priced between Rs 2.72 lakh and Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Thoughts About The Minor Upgrades Made To The Interceptor and Continental GT 650s
The Interceptor and Continental GT 650s are definitely Royal Enfield's best motorcycles ever. They offer extremely refined engines (by RE standards), a good amount of power, and they're cheap for 650cc motorcycles. These minor changes will definitely help, especially with night time visibility. Clear lenses will make the really bad lighting a little better. We'll still have to change the bulb though.
