KTM India Confirms Launch Of BS-VI Compliant Models From Next Month: Price Hike Expected
KTM India will be introducing BS-VI compliant models in the Indian market very soon. The company is expected to start deliveries of various BS-VI compliant models from mid-December 2019.
According to Autocar India, the KTM Duke 250, Duke 390 and RC 390 will be among the first models to get the BS-VI update. The three models will go on sale in the Indian market, early next month, with deliveries said to begin by the 20th of December.
Other models such as the Duke 125 will receive the update at a later stage, by January 2020. The BS-VI compliant Duke 200, on the other hand, will be available only by February of next year; a month ahead of the emission deadline.
With the BS-VI updates on the motorcycles, prices for each of them are expected to increase as well. According to reports, the KTM Duke 250, Duke 390 and RC 390 are expected to receive a price hike of around Rs 15,000. While the smaller, yet more popular models such as the Duke 125 and Duke 200 will receive a price hike between Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000.
KTM recently showcased the much-awaited 390 Adventure at the recently concluded EICMA 2019. The KTM 390 Adventure is expected to make its India debut at the upcoming IBW 2019 (India Bike Week); to be held between 6th and 7th of December in Goa. KTM could also take the opportunity to launch the adventure-tourer in the Indian market as well.
The KTM 390 Adventure is one of the most-awaited motorcycles in the Indian market. The motorcycle showcased at EICMA 2019 carried the same engine as on the 390 Duke. This comes in the form of a 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine.
It churns out the same 42bhp and 37Nm of peak torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. However, the engine on the 390 Adventure has been updated to comply with the latest Euro 5 (BS-VI) regulations.
Apart from the KTM 390 Adventure, the brand will showcase its entire product lineup, along with the recently launched 790 Duke. Reports also suggest KTM will bring in the 790 Adventure, along with the 401 Svartpilen & 401 Vitpilen from Husqvarna as well.
Thoughts On The KTM BS6 Model Update
KTM is currently concentrating heavily on updating its product lineup in India to meet the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. The larger models such as the 390 twins and the Duke 250 will be the first to receive the update, followed by the smaller models. KTM has also confirmed that there will be some ‘big announcements' at the 2019 IBW, stay-tuned to find out what they are.
