Kawasaki Ninja 300 Recalled To Replace Faulty Brake Component — Is Your Motorcycle Involved?
Kawasaki has issued a recall for the Ninja 300 manufactured from 2018. A few of the components on the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 300 was sourced locally and this includes the brake systems.
The recall is being issued to replace the locally sourced front brake master cylinder. According to a report by Autocar, Kawasaki has said that there is an issue with the front brake master cylinder that could potentially lead to brake failure.
Kawasaki will be replacing the faulty part free of cost. The well-known sportsbike manufacturer has begun contacting owners of the motorcycle, asking them to visit the nearest Kawasaki service centre to get the replacement done.
It was exactly a year ago that Kawasaki launched the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 300. The major change on the 2018 model came in the form of a massive drop in prices. Launched at Rs 2.98 lakh, it became the least-expensive twin-cylinder motorcycle in India.
The price drop of nearly 62,000 was achieved by localising the production of a few components like the brakes, wheels, tyres, plastics, etc. The supersport came with tyres from MRF and brakes from Endurance. These brakes made by Endurance are what lead to the recall.
The exact issue with the brakes have not been mentioned. The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 296cc, parallel-twin engine with a maximum power output of 39bhp and a peak torque output of 27Nm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel.
Sales of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 increased by a large margin after the launch of the locally produced model. It outsells the Kawasaki Ninja 400 by a length and it came really close to a few locally made 300cc motorcycles in terms of sales.
Thoughts On Kawasaki Ninja 300 Being Recalled For Replacement Of Fault Brake Component
Issuing a recall can seriously damage the reputation of a brand and it is a bold move. However, it is better than letting the issue lay low which could then lead to a bigger problem if the brake actually failed. There have been no cases reported in which a Kawasaki Ninja's brakes had failed. With this recall, Kawasaki is staying on the safer side.
