Design

On the design front, the new Honda Activa 5G remains similar to the Activa 4G. The prominent highlight of the Activa 5G is the LED headlight with integrated position lamp and chrome garnish. The design of the front apron also remains unchanged as compared to the Activa 4G.

The side profile of the new Honda Activa 5G now features the 5G badging and rest of the design elements are identical to the Activa 4G. The tail light design is also identical to the Activa 4G with a large pillion grab rail.

The Honda Activa 5G has not received any significant updates to the design, but Honda has made sure that the scooter looks refreshing with the addition of small design changes.

The Hero Maestro Edge features slightly bulky design as opposed to the Activa 5G. The scooter gets a dual-tone front cowl and apron with a large headlamp and apron-mounted turn indicators. The rearview mirrors get a silver garnish which adds a premium touch to the scooter.

The side profile of the Maestro Edge is simple and neat and features Maestro Edge badging and exhaust muffler finished in silver colour. The rear of the scooter gets an LED tail light and an external fuel filler cap. Overall, both the scooters are evenly matched in terms of design.

Features

The Honda Activa 5G is equipped with premium features such as LED headlight with position lamps, semi-digital instrument cluster with service intervals and ECO speed indicator and 4-in-1 lock.

The scooter also features new bag hooks on the front and rear of the footboard area and a seat-release button. Other features include mobile charging port, metal body and tubeless tyres.

The Hero Maestro Edge also comes with a host of features such as semi-digital instrument cluster, LED tail light, external fuel filler, Anti-theft system, mobile charging port, boot light, alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.

The Hero Maestro Edge gets all the features similar to the Activa 5G but misses out on the LED headlight. The Maestro Edge gets an external fuel filler cap which will be extremely convenient.

The Honda Activa 5G features a combi-braking system (CBS) which applies the brake on both the wheels when the front or rear brake is applied. The Honda Activa 5G does not get a disc brake even as an option.

Pricing

The Honda Activa 5G is launched in India with a price tag of Rs Rs 52,460 for the standard model and Rs 54,325 for the DLX variant. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).

On the other hand, the Hero Maestro Edge carries a price tag of Rs 49,900 for the drum brake alloy wheel model and Rs 50,900 for the dual-tone variant. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi). The Activa 5G is slightly expensive than the Maestro Edge, but with the addition of LED headlight, it certainly justifies its price tag.

Verdict

Both the Honda Activa 5G and the Hero Maestro Edge are very good scooters for daily commuting and offer a lot of features. But the Activa 5G has an advantage of stylish LED headlight which makes it unique in the 110cc scooter segment.

The Activa 5G makes for a better package with the reliable Honda engine and the full metal body. The Hero Maestro Edge is equally capable scooter with a host of features. Activa 5G should be your choice if you don't mind spending close to Rs 55,000. If you are on a budget, then Hero Maestro Edge should be your best option.
