Triumph Motorcycles To Make In India By Increasing Local Assembly
British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph is looking to step up its local assembly in India.
British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles is geared up to boost the assembly operations in the country.
Triumph aims to locally produce around 90 percent of the products sold in India by 2018. The company also launched the all-new Street Triple S priced at Rs 8.50 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
Currently, Triumph offers 16 models across five different segments in India. Only 20 percent of the products are assembled at the company's Manesar plant. The company aims to produce around 200 units locally this year.
Managing Director of Triumph Motorcycles India, Vimal Sumbly said, "We are looking at local assembly of 90 per cent of our product portfolio by next year."
He added, "We are emphasising on Made in India, and next year, we will have around 1,200 units locally produced." Currently, most of the company's products are imported from Thailand and UK.
The newly launched Triumph Street Triple S will be assembled at the company's Manesar plant. Sumbly stated that the company expects to retail around 25-300 units of the motorcycle this year.
Sumbly further said, "We expect to sell in the range of 1,200-1300 units during the year and out of that, Street Triple S is likely to account for 250-300 units." The deliveries of the Street Triple S will commence from next week.
