British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has launched the all-new Street Triple S in the Indian market. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 8.50 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
The 2017 Triumph Street Triple S gets updates in all the departments. It features a new engine, revamped design, lighter chassis and updated suspension.
The 2017 iteration of the naked middleweight from Triumph sports evolved design language. The overall styling of the motorcycle is sharper compared to the previous model. But the bug-shaped dual headlamp setup remains unchanged.
The 2017 Street Triple S features new inner and outer radiator cowls, new rear body panel and updated front and rear mudguard. Triumph states that the new Street is the lightest motorcycle in its segment with a kerb weight of 166kg.
The 2017 Triumph Street Triple S is offered in two colour schemes - Diable Red and Phantom Black. The S variant is equipped with an LCD instrument cluster opposed to the TFT display on the RS variant.
The all-new Street Triple S draws power from an all-new 765cc inline triple engine producing 111bhp and 73Nm of peak torque. The engine gets 80 new components which include new cam, pistons, increased bore and stroke and Nikasil plated aluminium barrels.
The new Street Triple is equipped with Showa suspension at both the ends. Up front the motorcycle gets upside down forks and preload adjustable mono shock at the rear. The motorcycle also gets lightweight gullwing swingarm.
The braking duties on the new Street Triple S are carried by Nissin two-piston calipers up front and Brembo single-piston caliper at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as a standard feature and cannot be switched off. The motorcycle also comes with traction control.
Currently, Triumph has only launched the entry-level S variant of the Street Triple. The RS variant will be introduced later this year. The new Street Triple S will rival the likes of Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821 and Aprilia Shiver 900.
The rivals of the Street Triple S might be more powerful and pricier. But the top-of-the-range RS model will be a fitting rival loaded with features. The bookings for the Street Triple S is open, and the deliveries will commence in the following days.
